Absentees - tryin' to mess with me / f.u.m. 7"

  • ug. 806 / 2 tracks / 1981
  • RI: brain transplant. btx / 1998
  • No sleeve with the original, reissue has a sleeve. 200 pressed, but only 106 in circulation since the others weren't picked up from the pressing plant. Check www.breakmyface.com/bands/absentees.html for the full story.
  • This 7” from LA is one of the grandaddys of ultrarare (and ultra-expensive) KBD punk. A side is noisy mid-tempo punk, like a more aggressive lo-fi version of the Damned's “New Rose”; still powerful and competently played. B side has more noisy punk, sounds an awful lot like the Misfits' Teenagers from Mars (minus the chorus). A bit derivative, and actually a bit late for the first punk wave, but still a very cool record. [7]
