AFI - sing the sorrow 2xLP/CD

  • dreamworks/universal. / 12 tracks / 2003
  • 10000 made on red vinyl in gatefold sleeve. Lots of international CD versions, including UK, German, Japanese, Australian, Canadian, Czech, Mexican, Russian, Hungarian, Argentine, Malaysian. Limited edition (not too limited I guess) CD with two bonus tracks. “Enhanced Edition” with bonus DVD with a short video and some remastered 5.1 surround audio tracks, packaged in a 72-page hardcover book.
  • From Skatecore to Horror Punk to… Emo? Unlikely turn for these ex-Punkers, but not the worst move, and I guess when they went major they (or their A&R guy) figured something radical had to happen. I’m not too excited by the ballads, but when they manage to stay rough, powerful and emotional at the same time (like in “Bleed Black”), the results are convincing. Keep trying. [7]
Weitermachen.
  • Tracks: miseria cantare: the beginning / leaving song pt.2 / bleed black / silver & cold / dancing through sunday / girl's not grey / death of seasons / great disappointment / paper airplanes (makeshift wings) / this celluloid dream / leaving song / but home is nowhere (non musical silence dialogue)
