#1 - First press has white labels with brown ink. Some of these (200?) have a picture sleeve (two versions, either an oversized, glued version on white paper or a foldover version on tan/cream paper), even fewer copies have an insert (again, two paper versions, matching the sleeve paper color). #2 - Second press (pressed after the band had relocated to New York) has no sleeve and beige/tan labels with red ink; comes in plain white inner sleeve, some are rubber stamped with “Prank Productions”. Check breakmyface.com for more infos and pictures. An acetate with a rejected mix was offered on Ebay in early 2001. #3 - First US bootleg has a pic sleeve and comes on gold or white vinyl. #4 - The Japanese repro (no sleeve) has excellent sound and pressing quality and looks just like the original 2nd press, but the label color is slightly different and the original has ’Masterdisk’ stamped in the inner grooves, the repro doesn’t. #5 - I heard about a dutch repro that has a cover and looks like the Japanese one, maybe the same record with a sleeve added. #6 - I’ve seen a version on Ebay on “Limp Brain records” with a heavy paper pic sleeve with a pic/lyric insert stapled inside, 500 made. This also has a bonus track (“Don’t bother me”).
The first Bad Brains 7” is one of the first true American hardcore records and already shows most of the band’s ingenuity. A side is great driving HC with anger, feeling and melodies. B side has a much stronger reggae feeling, but other than their later reggae songs, this still is solidly based in punk. Classic. [9]
Sehr gut.
