Their last in a string of major label albums, before they returned to Epitaph. The choice of Todd Rundgren as a producer might seem odd, and in fact this is the major flaw - or the major benefit of this album. Fans of their „Back to the Known“ punk sound will cringe because this is softer and more pop-oriented than virtually everything they have done so far. There are interesting ideas, both in production and songwriting, but somehow the sugar-coated pop sensibility seems out of place with their punk background and Ph.D. revolution lyrics. [7]

Ihre letzte Major-LP vor der reumütigen Rückkehr zu Epitaph. Hier wird allerdings nochmal richtig aufgedreht: Mit Todd Rundgren haben sich die Jungs einen Produzenten ausgesucht, den man bisher nicht gerade mit Punk oder auch nur Indie in Verbindung brachte. Entsprechend schockierend oder erfrischend fällt auch das Ergebnis aus - so soft und poppig haben wir Bad Religion noch nie gehört. Grundlage ist der übliche BR-Poppunk, angereichert mit einigen interessanten Ideen bei Produktion und Songwriting; allerdings wirkt der Pop-Zuckerguss meist doch etwas fehl am Platz. Hmm.
