If it is necessary to find a punk band with whom to compare Rhode Island’s Beltaine, early Split Lip might be a start, but that really doesn’t do the latter band justice. Honestly, Beltaine seems to have more in common with metal bands. Every song has an unnecessary solo, and the singer’s snarl brings Metallica to mind more often than anything else. The music is well produced and well played, but it lacks a certain amount of emotion and rawness. This is just listenable at best. [5] (BS)
