witching hour. whr 002 / 4 tracks / 1997
My cover is a single cardboard sheet, stickered and spray-painted; probably they are all different. 1000 made on black vinyl, 75 or 100 made on blue vinyl (conflicting info). Black vinyl version + lyric sheet on blue paper. Blue vinyl edition with lyric sheet on red paper, add’l info insert and label flyer. I have a third copy which allegedly is a promo copy, blue vinyl, different sleeve with red edge and a positive blue/black picture instead of the negative red/black picture of the regular blue vinyl copy.
The first Witching Hour comp., and a great job. The Cave-In track (from 1995) is simply phenomenal, brutal Hardcore with melodic and rocking parts - a preview of their “Jupiter” phase. ROM deliver their usual brutal emo sXe sound, great. The B side bands are a bit less interesting, powerful and brutal hardcore sound which is definitely OK but a bit too much in the well-known “old school” path. Excellent A side, though. [8]
Witching-Hour-Sampler in gewohnter Qualität.
Tracks: Cave-In - pivotal / Reversal of Man - i’m a new york city detective that strays from cheap suits and short sleeve shirts and ties // End of the Century Party - centralized knowledge / Roswell - the sincere, little letter
