Big Black - racer-x 12”

  • homestead. hms 007 / 6 tracks / 1984
  • RI: touch & go. tg 91 / 1992
  • Original has cover designed by Nate Kato of Urge Overkill, reissue has different sleeve. Both versions have insert sheet. Original HMS test pressing on black vinyl, with generic “Mayking” test press labels, no sleeve.
  • Classic Big Black material, stomping noise rock, incredible guitar sound, with hateful cynical intensity - and of course they were the first band to use a drum machine and not completely blow it. “Ugly American” is one of their toughest songs, but my favorite on this is “Sleep” which has an outlandish, nightmarish atmosphere - really strange. Great record. [9]
  • Und noch ein Big-Black-Klassiker. Der übliche Sound - kreischende Gitarren, der stampfende Roland-Drumcomputer und Steve Albinis Gesang, weißglühend vor Hass.
  • Tracks: racer-x / shotgun / the ugly american // deep six / sleep! / big payback
