mercury. srm 1-3776 / 11 tracks / 1979

As a result of Mercury's short-lived New Wave shopping spree, the Bizarros were one of the bands (along with the Suicide Commandos and Pere Ubu) that were supposed to appear on Mercury's sublabel “Blank”, but since the label went under before the LP was released it came out on Mercury instead. It's rough guitar rock rather than punk, with same parts 60's rock à la early Rolling Stones, Ohio punk à la Dead Boys/Cinecyde with some power pop thrown in. There's a keyboard on some tracks, but that's cool with me, but the cheesy rock influence occasionally is a bit too high. There are some cool punk songs though, so it's still a decent LP. [7]

Eine der Bands, die (neben den Suicide Commandos und Pere Ubu) auf Mercurys Unterlabel Blank erscheinen sollten, dann aber zum Mutterlabel verschoben wurden, weil Blank mittlerweile das Zeitliche gesegnet hatte. Zu gleichen Teilen 60er-Gitarrenrock à la frühe Rolling Stones und Ohiopunk à la Dead Boys oder Cinecyde; ein gewissen Powerpop-Touch ist auch dabei. Ein Keyboard orgelt bei einigen Stücken mit, ist aber kein Problem; schlimmer ist der etwas altbackene Rockeinfluss bei einigen Songs; trotzdem gibt es auch gute Punksongs, insgesamt also eine ordentliche LP.
