Burning Airlines started as a pet project by Jawbox’ J. Robbins, but they seem to have evolved into a real band and recorded a full CD. This could have been the new Jawbox CD; very close to the “Sweetheart” CD and equally great. Twisted rock with traces of emo, math rock, hardcore and that legendary DC sound, complex and melodic. Highly recommended. [9]

In den letzten Jahren ist es etwas still geworden um den DC-Sound, der Ende der 80er eine ganze Serie von Killer-Releases auf Dischord, Desoto, Peterbilt oder Sammich produzierte. Eine der letzten Bands, die in dieser Ecke noch aktiv waren, waren Jawbox - aber auch die gaben schließlich wegen des verunglückten Deals mit Atlantic auf. Glücklicherweise gibt es noch Burning Airlines, zuerst nur ein Baby-Projekt von Jawbox-Mastermind J.Robbins, jetzt aber eine “echte” Band mit einer vollen CD und (zum Glück) wieder richtig Indie. Wundervoll komplexe Musik mit Spuren von Emo, Rock, Hardcore und eben dem legendären DC-Sound. Sehr nah an der “Sweetheart”-CD von Jawbox; wer sie hat und liebt, braucht auch Burning Airlines.
