UK & US: alternative tentacles. virus 39 / 7 tracks / 1984

Recorded March 25, 1984 at the Meridian in San Antonio, TX. Reissued on 2003 CD reissue of the first 12”. Their copyright note “all rights up your butt” sounds pretty ironic today considering their messy lawsuit with Touch & Go in the 90’s over the rights to their indie releases.

This is basically a live version of the 12” released one year before, except for two new songs. Sound quality is amazing, almost sounds like a studio recording, and the songs sound a bit more “professional” here - not necessarily an improvement. Overall this doesn’t add much to their body of work, plus I like the studio versions better, but it’s a must for fans. [7]

Eigentlich eine Liveversion der ersten 12“ (wenn man mal von den beiden neuen Songs absieht). Der Sound ist exzellent, klingt fast wie eine Studioaufnahme, und die Songs selbst klingen auch etwas professioneller und weniger chaotisch als auf der ersten 12“, was aber nicht unbedingt eine Verbesserung ist… mir gefallen die alten Versionen jedenfalls besser. Für Fans in jedem Fall ein Muss.
