Hardrock is so dead and uncool that the time has come for a revival. The Champs have done a great job building their absurd sound out of hard rock, metal, art rock, hardcore, math rock, ambient and some other genres. A highly entertaining, un-embarrassing, ironic blend of, er, King Crimson, Iron Maiden, Krokus, Voi Vod, Don Caballero and many others. Most tracks are instrumentals, so there’s no high-pitched whining. Definitely a matter of taste, but this record has achieved the impossible: It explained heavy metal to me. [9]

Hardrock ist sowas von tot und uncool, da kann man so langsam darangehen, ihn wiederzuerwecken. Dachten sich wahrscheinlich die Champs und fingen an, ihren absurden Sound aus Hardrock, Metal, Artrock, Hardcore, Mathrock, Ambient und einigen anderen Genres zusammenzubasteln. Was dabei herauskommt, ist höchst unterhaltsam und überhaupt nicht peinlich (und ich sage das als jemand, der Metal grundsätzlich nicht mag). Eine extrem ironische Mischung aus, öh, King Crimson, Iron Maiden, Voi Vod, Don Caballero und allem möglichen; fast alle Songs sind Instrumentals, also keine Kreischstimme. Ist bestimmt Geschmackssache, mir hat diese Platte jedenfalls den Metal erklärt.
