The Circle Jerks went major at a time when the big signing craze of 1992-1994 was over; I wonder what drove Mercury to shop for a punk band at that late point. Anyway, this is a lot better than what you might expect; the music is similar to their mid-tempo, rock-influenced punk from Wonderful or VI, but has a lot more power and snottiness here - their singer never sounded better. Not bad at all. [7]

Was Band und Major-Label dazu getrieben haben mag, es nochmal zu probieren, nachdem die kommerzielle Punk-Party der Jahre 92-94 schon vorbei war, wird wohl ein Geheminis bleiben; in jedem Fall ist die Platte bei weitem nicht so schlecht, wie ich befürchtet hatte. Musikalisch bleibt man beim Bewährten, also dem mittelschnellen, rockigen Punk, den man schon von Wonderfuil oder VI her kennt. Die bessere Produktion wirkt wie eine Frischzellenkur, die Songs klingen frech und kraftvoll. Nicht übel.
