I have to admit that I hadn’t followed Danzig’s post-Misfits output for a while, dismissing most of it as boring metal. This is his seventh release under his own name, and while it’s not comparable to his old band, it’s not half as bad as I thought. It’s got its weak points (like the cheesy rap attempt on Wicked Pussycat, two rather boring ballads, and too much retro rock & blues influences), but there are some really good kick-ass rock songs (like Black Mass) and some that are hard to classify but quite interesting (like The Coldest Sun). Give it a try. [7]

Ich hatte mich in den letzten Jahren nicht mehr um Danzig gekümmert und das Ganze eigentlich eher unter „schlechter Metal“ abgeheftet, aber so übel ist das gar nicht. Auf der inzwischen siebten CD gibt es neben ein paar Peinlichkeiten auch einige absolut brauchbare Tracks. Die Produktion ist messerscharf und hat extrem viel Kick, und wenn das wie bei Black Mass auf einen guten Song trifft, ist das Ergebnis überzeugend. Bei einigen Songs merkt man, dass der Meister versucht, Neuland zu betreten (etwa bei The Coldest Sun), auch ganz interessant. Kann man durchaus mal antesten.
