1984 was a watershed year for hardcore; many bands were still trying to play faster and faster, some where getting more melodic, and then there were the ones that were trying to combine hardcore’s aggression with punk’s slower tempo. Decry are a prime example for the latter; very aggressive and powerful mid-tempo hardcore, tight and controlled. Songs like Falling or Bloody Dream are real hits, and their excellent cover version of Sonic Reducer shows their punk roots. Some of the greatest hate songs ever. [9]

Während sich viele andere Bands 1984 noch am sinnlosen Geschwindigkeits-Wettrennen berauschten, versuchten Decry, lieber etwas langsamer zu spielen und dafür der Musik durch kontrolliertere Gitarren + Drums mehr Power zu geben, was auch durchaus gelingt. Titel wie Falling oder Bloody Dream sind echte Ohrwürmer und haben wesentlich mehr Energie als die meisten der hingebratzten Speedhämmer, auch die tolle Sonic-Reducer-Version zeigt, daß Decry ihre Wurzeln eher im harten, kraftvollen Punkrock haben als im Speedcore. Tolle Platte.
