I suppose this soundtrack LP got way more exposure than the low-budget movie itself (the movie is about an all-girl rocknroll band from LA that fights and sleeps its way to the top (original title was “Desperate Teenage Runaways”… got it?); it’s out on DVD, too). Some well-known LA punk bands wrote or donated songs for this project, so even though it was a near zero-budget project movie-wise, the soundtrack is pretty high profile. Despite the big names there are only a few good songs (like the title song by Redd Kross, an acoustic duo with Greg Graffin and Greg Hetson of Bad Religion, the well-known Black Flag song and a cool cover version by the Nip Drivers), a lot of so-so stuff and some uninteresting tracks. Soundtrack zu einem No-Budget-Film aus der LA-Punkszene; die Platte ist sicherlich weitaus bekannter als der reichlich obskure Film. Grund dafür sind natürlich die großen Namen wie Redd Kross, Black Flag und White Flag. Es gibt schon ein paar nette Songs, dazu aber viel Durchschnittliches und auch einige langweilige Songs. Braucht man nicht wirklich.
