First release by this San Diego band, incorporating hardcore, grunge, noiserock, rock, emo and pop punk. If that sounds familiar, a look at the lineup reveals John Reis of Rocket from the Crypt. There are certain similarities, but DLJ are less extreme, and even though there are melodic elements, their music tends to be less catchy and hymnic than RFTC's. In addition, singer Rick Froberg (previously in Pitchfork with Reis) has a much thinner voice, so everythings sounds a bit less accessible and less impressive. Don't get me wrong, this is a great and diverse record, but the comparison to RFTC is inevitable, and they're losing. [7]

Erste LP der Band aus San Diego; eine bunte Mischung aus HC, Grunge, Noiserock, Rock, Emo und Pop-Punk. Wem das bekannt vorkommt, hat Recht - hier spielt nämlich John Reis von Rocket from the Crypt mit. Es gibt also durchaus Ähnlichkeiten, aber DLJ sind tendenziell weniger extrem, weniger melodisch und weniger beeindruckend als ihre Schwesterband; auch die Stimme des Sängers ist längst nicht so roh undkraftvoll. Definitiv eine gute, interessante und abwechslungsreiche LP, aber den Vergleich mit RFTC verlieren sie.
