Embrace - s/t LP / CD

  • F: dischord. 24 / 14 tracks / 1987
  • Recorded in 1986. Test pressings (with matrix “Dischord 24 A / B”) in white sleeve with xeroxed info glued to it; has a thinner, but more transparent mix. Regular issue (with matrix “Dischord 24 A2 / B2”) is remixed, has more bass and is cut louder, but also sounds a bit muddier. First press with 5$ price on cover, repress with 6$ price. 1st CD version (circa 1990) has new cover and no bonus tracks, 2nd CD (2002) is remastered, has two bonus tracks (alternate versions of Money and Dance of Days) and a sleeve similar to the LP sleeve.
  • One result of DC’s revolution summer; an all-star “emo/awareness” band feat. Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat/Fugazi), Chris Bald (Faith/Ignition), Michael Hampton and Ivor Hanson (both ex-Faith). Great intelligent hardcore with emotions and power. If you liked early Dag Nasty, Rites of Spring, Rain or Three you can’t live without this. [9]
  • Eine der unzähligen DC-Bands, die im “revolution summer” 1985 entstanden, hier allerdings mit Staraufgebot. Musikalisch paßt man 100% in die damalige innovative Dischord-Phase, neben Bands wie Rites of Spring, (frühen) Dag Nasty, Rain, Three etc. Geniale, gefühl-, aber auch kraftvolle Musik, die mir hundertmal besser gefällt als alle Fugazi-Platten zusammen. “No more pain”, “Money” oder “If I never thought about it” sind wirkliche Hits, in jeder Hinsicht. Für DC-Fans absolut unverzichtbar.
  • Tracks: give me back / dance of days / building / past / spoke / do not consider / no more pain // i wish i / saidgun / can’t forgive / money / if i never thought about it / words are not enough
