After D.Boon’s death the remaining two Minutemen (luckily) decided to keep on playing music with a new singer. Ed Fromohio, the new guy, is in no way a replacement for D., though, and Firehose are not just the Minutemen with a new singer. The music is influenced by their old band, of course, and the funky, jazzy parts are there again, too, but most of the songs are straighter, catchier and less complex now. Diverse and intelligent music. [8]  

Nach dem Tod ihres Sängers D. Boon standen die restlichen beiden Minutemen vor dem Problem “weitermachen oder aufhören?”. Zum Glück stießen sie schnell auf Ed Fromohio, der D. auf würdige Weise vertreten konnte. Firehose ist aber mehr als nur eine Minutemen-Ausgabe mit neuem Sänger; obwohl die Band viel vom alten Feeling übernommen hat (funkige, jazzige Parts), ist man im Ganzen geradliniger und eingängiger geworden, sehr schön. Ansonsten natürlich tadellose Instrumentenbeherrschung und ein sehr guter Sänger.
