The Nirvana effect meant that every band that knew how to hold a guitar was offered a major label contract. So Flop from Seattle got theirs, too, but they - like almost all the others - sunk without a trace. At least we have a well-produced document of their great melodic & ultra-catchy pop punk. This CD sounds a LOT like Sub-Pop-Era Fastbacks, just a little slower, and The Great Valediction is a real hit. [8]

Nach dem Nirvana-Knaller bekamen auch Flop ihren Major-Vertrag… und gingen wie fast alle anderen unter. Wenigstens haben wir so ein paar gut produzierte Platten unserer Lieblingsbands, was soll’s. Flop klingen hier geradezu unanständig nach den Fastbacks; nur daß Flop etwas ruhiger sind als ihre Schwesterband. Viele schöne Songs, und mit The Great Valediction haben sie einen veritablen Hit.
