18 DC bands try to interpret The Cure. Most of them fail - terribly. Embarrassing boy scout romantics meet awkward guitar pop and bland indie boredom. The few positive exceptions are Edsel, Rollercoaster and… er, that’s about it. Another example for the stupidity of tribute compilations. [5]

Wenn DC-Bands ein Cure-Tribute-Album aufnehmen, dann verspricht das, eine runde Sache zu werden. Statt dessen ist dies ein weiterer Beweis dafür, wie überflüssig Tribute-Sampler sind. Traurig, wie fast sämtliche Bands an den zeitlosen Klassikern scheitern; peinlich, wie die Sänger den unnachahmlichen Robert Smith zu kopieren versuchen. Da werden Songs wie Friday I’m in Love oder Boys don’t Cry zu erbärmlichem Lagerfeuer-Geklimper. Trotz einiger weniger Lichtblicke (Edsel, Rollercoaster) ein ärgerlicher Sampler.
