Helmet are one of the few bands signed by a major who were able to really make use of the possibilities of an expensive production. The improved sound quality doesn’t make them sound wimpy or mainstream, their brutality is revealed even better this way. Lots of hate, incredible intensity, stop & go staccato guitars, complex jazzy rhythms. A classic. (KS/bj) [10]

Helmet steht für cleane Brutalität, abgehackte Kasernenhof-Kommandos eines Dich hassenden Sergeants, der Dir direkt ins Ohr brüllt, Gitarrenstakkatos, und eine Geradlinigkeit, die andere Bands gerne hätten. Leider ist nur der erste Track von Albini produziert, sonst hätte man damit den dritten Weltkrieg gewinnen können. Die “melodische” Ausnahme “Unsung” hat das Zeug zum zweiten Klassiker nach “Meantime”. (KS)
