Hüsker Dü’s debut LP is a 1981 live recording; the music is completely different to nearly anything else they’ve done, a lot faster and trashier. Many fans dismiss this LP as kind of an “accident”, but it had a huge impact back then, especially on the emerging European hardcore scene that had not heard many other early American hardcore records. If we forget about the Hüsker Dü connection for a second, this is a cool hardcore LP with just a slight Minneapolis edge; fast, noisy and chaotic but also powerful and driving. A classic. [8]
