Isis - sgnl>05 LP/CD

  • tortuga recordings. tr-015 / 5 tracks / 2001
  • (CD) neurot recordings. / 5 tracks / 2001
  • Two pressings. #1 - 100 on clear, 240 on grey splatter, 1100 on purple splatter. #2 - 125 on black, 125 on orange, 125 on white.
  • This record (an LP by length, but more of an EP by concept) moves the band even further from traditional rock paradigms. Two of the tracks are in the vein of the previous records, ultra heavy, intense, slow, massive hardcore/post-metal; two tracks are more in an industrial noise vein, and the last one is a remix of the LP track by Justin Broadrick of Godflesh, some guitars of the original plus and some keyboards added - I've heard much worse remixes, but I like their original material better. A good record, but not as consistently great as their other ones. [8]
  • Tracks: sgnl>05 (final transmission) / divine mother (the tower crumbles) / beneath below // constructing towers / celestial (signal fills the void) (remix by justin k. broadrick)
