When the Dead Kennedys toured Europe in 1981 they were shocked that nobody knew about US punk; so they assembled this compilation album that helped to kick start the European interest in the American scene. And that's just what it is, a great introduction to the 1981 US scene with great punk and hardcore on side A, taken from the bands' early 7”s and LPs. B side has more experimental stuff which is equally good, though, except for the boring Bpeople song. A classic, even though there are no unreleased tracks. [7]  

Als die DK’s 1981 ihre erste Europa-Tour machten, waren sie erstaunt, daß kein Aas die genialen US-Bands kannte; also wurde kurzerhand für die Unwissenden eine Missions-Platte zusammengestellt. Auf der HC-Seite gibt es viele große Bands (Black Flag, Bad Brains, DKs, DOA, Circle Jerks, Subhumans), die auch alle gute Kostproben ihres Könnens abliefern (leider sind alle Tracks schon veröffentlicht…). Auf der B-Seite dann eher die Avantgarde-Schiene mit guten (Geza X, Christian Lunch, Voice Farm) und weniger guten (BPeople, Offs) Trax. Insgesamt eine gute Platte, vielleicht nicht sehr interessant für den Kenner, aber gut für das, was sie sein soll - eine Einführung in die 81er-US-Scene.
