Released in 1990, when the first wave of the NYHC hype was already over. Although the liner notes express some cynicism about this fact, a lot of the bands are still pretty close to the early Revelation-style hardcore. Powerful, fast and simple hardcore with some excursions into emo (Moondog), crustcore (Citizens Arrest, Rorschach) and some other genres. Pretty good compilation, although this is definitely not the best material by great bands like Rorschach, Citizens Arrest or Go. [8]  

Dieser New-York-Sampler erschien, nachdem der große NYHC/SE-Hype vorbei war; dementsprechend zynisch fällt auch der Kommentar auf dem Booklet aus. Überraschend ist allerdings, wie nah die Bands musikalisch an der frühen Revelation-Schiene sind, auch wenn die Variationsbreite etwas größer ist. Schneller, oft recht einfacher NY-Hardcore mit gelegentlichen Ausflügen in Emo- (Moondog) oder Crust-Gefilde (Citizens Arrest, Rorschach). Insgesamt ein guter Sampler, wenn auch Bands wie Rorschach, Citizens Arrest oder Go hier noch nicht auf der Höhe ihrer musikalischen Kreativität sind.
