More monotonous/hypnotic/droning than the previous albums, the guitar sound reminds me of Glenn Branca’s sometimes. Still lots of DC influence, excellent experimental and powerful Dischord post-hardcore with great, Jawbreaker-style vocals. [8]  

Nach dem typischen DC-Sound der früheren LPs geht die Band hier etwas andere Wege. Die Grundstimmung ist zwar immer noch Dischord pur, dazu kommen jetzt aber weiterreichende Einflüsse. Viele Songs sind auf einem einzigen Riff aufgebaut, das ständig wiederholt wird; das erzeugt einen Klangteppich, der sich am ehesten mit dem Wall of Sound von Gitarrengott Glenn Branca vergleichen läßt. Zu dieser eher hypnotischen Komponente bildet die Jawbreaker-mäßige Stimme einen recht interessanten Kontrast. Insgesamt eine sehr interessante Platte, die längst nicht so verkopft und theoretisch klingt, wie sich das jetzt vielleicht anhören mag. DC-Fans können bedenkenlos zuschlagen.
