Red vinyl, 800 made. All singles from this series have the same sleeve with an embossed skull; paper colors are different, and there’s a sticker on the back of each 7“ w/ song titles etc. All 7“s reissued on Singles 1-12 CD.(I am only showing one picture sleeve here, they’re all the same except for the paper color).

Part 1 of the monthly series. Depending on which way you look at it this is a nice joke, a cult series or just another rip-off (especially because the whole thing was put out on CD just months after this came out). Well, it’s a bit of all, but the good thing is you can get all the music on CD without paying a lot; and if you have to have the 7“s - well, prepare to bleed. This first 7“ has a cool Germs cover on side A, fast & powerful version, excellent. The B side is some wicked industrial stuff, haunting and extremely noisy. Good 7“. [8]  

Wenn eine Band wie die Melvins für ein Jahr jeden Monat eine limitierte Single rausbringen, auf farbigem Vinyl & im Prägecover, ist das dann ein netter Spaß, Kultobjekt oder gezielte Abzockerei? Anhänger der letzteren These werden darauf hinweisen, daß nur wenige Monate nach der letzten Single der ganze Kram noch mal komplett auf CD erschienen ist, nach dem Motto: wenn die Band nur bekannt genug ist, kann man die neue CD erstmal auf Singles rausscheppern und damit doppelt verdienen. Dies im Hinterkopf kann man trotz allem sagen, daß die Teile nette Sammlerstücke sind. Und der Fan muss nicht mal tief in die Tasche greifen, es gibt ja immer noch die CD. Auf dieser ersten Single gibt es eine prima Germs-Coverversion, schnell und knallig, und eine ganz böse, industrialmäßige Krachorgie. Gutes Ding.
