On their debut LP Mercyland celebrate the Hüsker/Replacements-influenced sound that was incredibly popular in the late 80's. Melodic, emotional, mid-tempo (post) hardcore rock with noisy guitars and a pretty good singer (who later ended up in Bob Mould's band Sugar). This might not have the depth or songwriting skills of the mentioned bands, but it's a good LP with catchy and memorable songs. [7]

Auf ihrer ersten LP zelebrieren Mercyland den damals extrem populären Hüsker/Replacements-Sound. Emotioneller, melodischer, mittelschneller (Post-) Hardcore mit krachigen Gitarren und einem recht guten Sänger (der später folgerichtig bei Bob Moulds Band Sugar landete). Hat vielleicht nicht ganz die Durchschlagkraft der genannten Bands, trotzdem eine schöne LP für Hüsker-Fans.
