Final release before D.Boon’s death. Much calmer and more melodic than their previous LPs; the noisy punk sound is gone completely, this is more in the later Meat Puppets vein with lots of influences ranging from funk and rock to country. Catchy and interesting music, but you might be disappointed if you were into their edgy stuff. A good record, nonetheless. [8]  

Letzte Platte der Band vor D.Boon’s Tod; deutlich ruhiger und melodischer als die bisherigen LPs. Der kratzige Punk-Sound der frühen Songs ist fast völlig verschwunden, dafür gibt es vielfältige Einflüsse von Funk über Rock bis Country. Eingängige und interessante Musik, wer allerdings die verquaste Hektik der frühen Sachen liebt, könnte enttäuscht sein. Ansonsten eine gute Platte, King of the Hill ist ein kleiner Hit.
