Misfits - bullet 7"

  • plan 9. pl 1001 / 4 tracks / jun 1978
  • US: “plan 9”. pl 1001 / 1986 (bootleg)
  • UK: listless recordings. lr 2 / 1989 (bootleg)
  • UK: no label. 001 / 1989 (bootleg)
  • J: “plan 9”. pl 1001 / 1989 (bootleg)
  • First press (1000 copies, June 1978): gatefold sleeve w/ different back cover (with band photo), silk screened sleeve (red parts are a little shifted). A few copies (5-15) have yellow background (above the car), also there has been one reported with a blue colored JFK jacket. Second pressing (Jan 1979) with Better Red On Dead back cover on red vinyl (2000 made). There are also black vinyl records of the first pressing in 2nd press sleeves (around 100 copies); those were essentially leftovers, there was no true 3rd pressing on black vinyl. Originals either have a silk screened color insert or a xeroxed lyric sheet on white paper. Original color lyric sheets have Misfits logo in black, the lyric sheet for Boot #2 has the logo in red plus some other minor changes. Bootlegs: #1 - Very very well-done boot of 1st press, thick glossy paper and a slightly different hand lettering of the matrix numbers. Hard to tell from an original unless you have one to compare, but the glossy paper is quite easy to spot. 1st and 2nd original presses used the same pressing tool so you can also compare the matrix to a 2nd press original. #2 - UK boot (“listless”) on yellow and black vinyl w/ lyric sheet. #3 - Another UK boot on red vinyl. #4 - Excellent Japanese counterfeit on red vinyl, looks just like the second pressing but there is an additional “Masterdisk” stamp in the runout grooves that the original doesn’t have.
  • This EP kicks off their first punk phase; rather simple mid-tempo punk with a rough, noisy and almost amateurish guitar sound which is contrasted by great melodies and Glenn Danzig's unique voice; together, this creates a depth that goes far deeper than most other bands' music of that time. This is a nearly perfect punk EP; all four songs are hits, and Attitude is one of their catchiest songs ever. The lyrics - like on all their other records - range from eerie to ridiculous and downright brainless, but you've got to live with that. [10]
  • Tracks: bullet / we are 138 // attitude / hollywood babylon
