RI (LP): raw deal. no number / 2002 (bootleg)

I believe the bootleg is from Europe, looks like a Czech pressing. LP comes with xerox of original tape sleeve which unfolds to an info sheet.

Classic North Carolina compilation which for a long time was tape-only until some guy decided to bootleg it. Four bands - COC (Their first recordings I assume - fast and angry hardcore, but still very raw and simple. A bit too simple, actually), No Rock Stars (great fast & powerful hardcore with some metal/Motorhead influence - proto-speedmetal? Too bad they have the worst recording quality of all four bands, sounds a lot like a practice room demo, still those are the best tracks on this comp.), No Labels (short fast and simple hardcore blasts, good stuff, though) and Colcor (some more fast & simple hardcore, OK). The music might not be too refined or sophisticated, but it’s great angry music nonetheless, and had this been released on vinyl back in the day it would be up there with many classic hardcore compilations today. Sound quality on the LP is OK, I can’t imagine the cassette being much better. [7]

Szenesampler aus North Carolina, COC und No Labels sind hier wohl die bekannteren Bands. Zumeist einfacher, schneller Hardcore nach dem Strickmuster der frühen Touch&Go- und Dischord-Bands, hat aber durchaus Charme. Definitive Gewinner sind No Rock Stars, die hier eine Art Proto-Speedmetal abliefern - schneller, kraftvoller und gut gespielter Hardcore mit gelegentlicher Metal/Motorhead-Kante. Ordentlicher Sampler.
