Their first LP has nothing to do with punk or hardcore; this is more in the vein of late 70s/early 80s wave/art stuff out of NYC or San Francisco. Still this is complex and artful music, but the complete lack of the aggressive and hectic sound that has made them famous is a bit irritating. [5]  

Die erste LP der Kanadier, die den komplexen Jazzcore quasi erfunden haben, hat mit Punk oder Hardcore herzlich wenig zu tun. Verzerrte Gitarren sind hier ohnehin nicht zu finden; erinnert mich eher an New-Wave-Platten aus der Kunstszene der späten 70er und frühen 80er. Schon hier ist die Musik recht komplex und interessant, aber es ist etwas irritierend, daß der aggressive Touch der späteren Platten komplett fehlt. Eher ein Sammlerteil.
