2005 Australian reissue includes liner notes from Die Kreuzen’s Keith Brammer. Includes three bonus tracks: “Gettin’ Pretty Pop” (from The Great Lost Brew Wave comp.), “Earn While You Learn” and “Smoke” (B-side tracks from their 1981 7”).

Bizarre blend of art punk, jazz and new wave with a singer whose voice remotely reminds me of Jello Biafra’s. Occasionally there’s a hint of the Minutemen’s complexity, and the guitar sound is a bit similar, but the Oil Tasters aren’t as accessible, and the goofy wave touch and the saxophone are a bit too much. Not bad, and there even might be some fans out there, but overall it’s just not a genuinely great record. [6]

Bizarre Mischung aus Kunst-Punk, Jazz und New Wave, mit einem Sänger, dessen Stimme mich entfernt an Jello Biafra erinnert. Der Gitarrensound und die Komplexität der Songs hat auch was von den Minutemen, aber die Oil Tasters sind längst nicht so genial oder eingängig; der manchmal etwas alberne New-Wave-Touch und das Saxophon sind auch nicht gerade der Hit. Ansonsten nicht schlecht, aber eben auch keine gute Platte.
