First solo LP by the ex-Avengers singer. Beautiful acoustic guitar pop with neo folk and C&W elements; her voice is not 100% firm yet on some tracks but this just adds to the charm of this record. This is by no means punk, but you can still catch a glimpse of the old Avengers magic in the melodies. [8]

Nach dem viel zu frühen Ende der Avengers anno 79 hatte sich Penelope Houston mit Kooperationen mit Howard Devoto und Alex Gibson über Wasser gehalten, dann gab’s eine Single mit ihrer neuen Folkband Dash Thirty Dash. Mit dieser ersten Solo-LP kam dann der erste zaghafte Durchbruch; die Neofolk-Szene war im Entstehen und machte Miss Houston auch größeren Hörerschichten bekannt. Nix Punk also, sondern schöner Akustik-Pop mit eindeutigen Folk- und Country-Elementen, aber immer intelligent und etwas melancholisch. Schöne Platte.
