UK version on multicolored (yellow/red) vinyl (first pressing) or just plain black vinyl with different labels. Repertoire CD adds three live tracks: Tight Black Pants, Living Dead and Sometimes I. Cherry Red CD has these three plus 2 more live tracks (Butcher Baby and Corruption) plus 2 outtakes: You Think You’re Comin’ and Fast Food Service. The CD on Plasmatics Media has the original 3 live tracks plus the complete Metal Priestess mLP. Trivia: Wendy O. Williams (1949-1998) was once nominated for a Grammy Award as best female rock vocalist.
Back in the day, the Plasmatics were famous for two things: their manic stage show which mainly consisted of destroying stuff onstage, and their scantily-clad singer, Wendy O. Williams. So what if they were a media sensation, their first LP shows that there was more to them than just shock appeal; this is surprisingly solid, tough & fast punk. Not hardcore in today’s sense of the word, but pretty rough nonetheless. Wendy’s moany singing style gets a bit annoying after a while, and there’s just too much rock influence for my taste, but otherwise this isn’t bad at all. [7]
(KS)
