Debut 12” from Pure Joy, the band around singer/guitarist Rusty Willoughby (also in the Fastbacks and Fluf). This is quite different to their more recent stuff, more guitar/wave pop than punk, with a synth etc. Great melodic/melancholic songs, nonetheless, reminds me of Pete Shelley’s solo stuff or early Paul Haig material. Ein ziemlicher Unterschied zu den späteren Platten… Geht eher in die Richtung Wave-Pop, mit Synthis und so. Die Songs sind aber klasse, schöne, eingängige Melodien und eine etwas melancholische Grundstimmung. Erinnert mich an die Solosachen von Pete Shelley oder Paul Haig. Gefällt mir sehr gut.
