First release by the noise rock band featuring Jon Spencer and Julia Cafritz. A bit closer to their punk roots - they’re greeting Ian [MacKaye] and Jeff [Nelson] on the sleeve, and “HC Rebellion” is a stomping punk song - but most of this is already the grinding, crazy, noisy stuff they’re known for; even though bands like Flipper or Hose had done similar things before, in 1985 this was still truly innovative. Erste Platte von Jon Spencers erster Band, damals noch in Washington DC. Titel wie „HC Rebellion“ und Grüße an „Ian + Jeff“ zeigen, dass die Band hier noch etwas näher an ihren Punkwurzeln ist als bei den späteren Releases; trotzdem ist das alles schon reichlich schräge, krachig und kaputt. Drei Noiserock-Tracks und ein stampfender Punksong. Geht klar; für 1985 sogar noch wirklich innovativ.
