US test press with generic Capitol test press labels, no sleeve. Most versions have a printed inner sleeve. Japanese press with Obi strip. Argentina press is called “Fin del Siglo”. Portugese pressing with insert. Mexican version with Spanish song titles; some have a “Rock de los 80s” sticker on front sleeve. 2001 LP reissue on 180g vinyl. 2005 LP reissue on red vinyl. 2002 CD reissues (USA + Japan) have 6 bonus tracks. 2006 Japan reissue in a mini LP-style paper sleeve. I believe the Russian CD also includes the Pleasant Dreams LP.

Their fifth studio record shows some signs of wear; their sound largely remains the same - simple punk rock with catchy melodies - but there are more slower songs, some ballads and more rock/rnr influences. 60s legend Phil Spector produced this album which introduces some interesting ideas, but as a whole, his reverb-heavy “wall of sound” approach doesn't work well with the Ramones' direct energy. This is a great album, and with classic punk songs like RnR Highschool, Chinese Rocks or High Risk Insurance you can't go wrong, but they've definitely done better. [8]  

Etwas gebremster als die Vorläufer und bereits mit dem einen oder anderen Nicht-Hit. (KS) Produziert von 60s-Pop-Legende Phil Spector, dessen matschig-halliges “Wall of Sound”-Konzept nur bedingt zur Ramones-Energie passt. Auch diese LP hat ein paar echte Hits, erreicht aber nicht das Niveau der ersten 4 Studio-LPs. (bj)
