+ printed innersleeve with early pressings. Pressings: #1 - USA: First US pressing was released before Sire was acquired by Warner Brothers, it was distributed by a Californian company called ABC Records (stated on the sleeve). Reissued on Sire/WB after the deal. Test pressings for the first (Sire/ABC) pressing with generic “Columbia Record Productions” labels in plain white sleeve (some with track listing glued to front sleeve). The versions released in the 70s have a crude, 60s-style stereo mix (voice/bass on left channel, guitar and drums on right channel) which was changed on the more recent reissues. 2000 US rerelease on 180g vinyl. 2005 LP reissue on red vinyl. There is also a US 8-track cartridge version from the 70s. US CD has 8 bonus tracks. #2 - Europe: Original UK, Canadian, German and Italian pressings. UK test pressings with plain white labels, plain white sleeve. The Italian version has a different sleeve. UK picture disc reissue with sleeve art. UK CD (c. 1999) has original 14 songs only. #3 - Others: Various Aussie pressings, late 80s reissue on
AIM on black and pink marbled vinyl. Japanese version with Obi strip and lyric sheet. Argentina version with Spanish song titles.
14 songs and 29 minutes that have changed the (music) world forever. They took the underground/garage rock of the 60's, removed the dusty blues rock elements, added some surf pop melodies and doubled the speed. The result is a witty, stupid, exciting and incredibly catchy record that can rightfully claim to be the first real punk record ever released. A milestone. [10]
