Looking back today at the Krishna Core phenomenon of the late 80s/early 90s, I guess it's rather a hardcore footnote, but back then it seemed like a whole new paradigm, or a genuine threat to the scene, depending on who you asked. The complete dedication of some people as well as the hysterical fear of many others both seem a bit ridiculous today (my own previous review included). But even if I re-evaluate this debut EP by Ray Cappo's post-Youth of Today band from a less paranoid perspective, it still remains a bad record. The music sounds like a much calmer, sedated version of Youth of Today; and Ray’s whiny vocals are just horrible. Well, I guess it just took them some time to find their new sound. [3]  

Rückblickend gesehen war die ganze Aufregung um die kurzlebige Krishnacore-Welle ziemlich für die Katz; die Krsna-Kids haben die Welt nicht erobert und auch die Hardcore-Szene nicht unterwandert; die Paranoia war also unberechtigt. Grund genug, sich die Sachen noch mal vorbehaltslos anzuhören. Leider hilft das dieser ersten Shelter-7” nur wenig, es bleibt eine schlechte Platte… die Musik ist erträglicher NY-Hardcore, allerdings um ein gutes Stück ruhiger und ’meditativer’ als Youth of Today; furchtbar dagegen ist Ray's winseliger Gesang. Wie man zum Thema Religion steht, muss jeder selbst entscheiden, dies ist jedenfalls die schlechteste Shelter-Platte.
