I suppose everyone has his personal love/hate relationship with this band, but to me this is their best record (along with Sister). A lot of this material is still very noisy and experimental, but there are a lot more structures, melodies, hooklines, which makes this way more accessible than their older records. I guess this “pop avantgarde” sensibility is their true achievement, in making the unlistenable consumable. Whatever. Truly visionary, one of the most important records of the 80s. Jeder hat wohl seine eigene Meinung zu dieser Band, für mich ist auf Evol (und auf Sister) ihr bestes Material zu finden. Hat noch viel von der Glenn-Branca-beeinflussten Frühphase, wilde Gitarrenexperimente und Lärm-Mauern, dazu aber eine eingängige Pop-Kante. Eine der wichtigsten Platten der 80er.
