Debut LP by the Minnesota band, and with Bob Mould as a producer they went straight on the right track - the guitars sound a lot like Hüsker Dü. This album already has some of their trademark rock/rocknroll influence, but overall it’s much wilder and less refined than the rest of their output (which is definitely a plus). This is kind of an uneven selection, with some great songs, some lame songs and some more experimental tracks, but overall it’s good and interesting. [6]

Debüt-LP der Minnesota-Band, und mit Bob Mould haben sie sich gleich den richtigen Produzenten gegriffen - die Gitarren klingen extrem nach den Hüskers. Ansonsten sind Soul Asylum hier noch deutlich wilder und rauher als auf ihren späteren LPs. Die Songauswahl ist etwas inhomogen - großartige Songs stehen neben eher langweiligen oder experimentellen Tracks, aber insgesamt eine ordentliche und interessante Platte.
