This LP has been repressed numerous times, with some slight differences. First press copies have a two-sided lyric sheet and no bar code on sleeve, more recent copies have no lyric sheet and still no bar code, even later copies have bar code, new catalog number (31011)  and no lyric sheet. Limited reissue (late 90s??) on red vinyl. Limited 2006 vinyl reissues on Frontier on clear pink, green and clear vinyl, 2007 repressings on grey swirl and (again) on red vinyl. Limited Virgin UK press on orange. Epitaph license press on black. Also on CD. Euro CD includes Possessed to Skate 12”.

Suicidal Tendencies were one of the first hardcore bands (if not the first) that convincingly integrated metal into their music; it's basically fast hardcore with a tuneless singer and metallic guitars. Yes, there's occasional guitar solos, but they're well integrated; so the mix of rough hardcore street feeling and metal leads and chords is entirely credible. “Institutionalized” was a surprise hit on MTV and helped this album to become the best-selling US hardcore record of the 1980s. ST waren eine der ersten Bands, die massiv Metalelemente in ihre Musik einbauten. Das merkt man v.a. in der Gitarre, die hin & wieder mal ein typisches Metalsolo absondert oder auch ein paar Metalriffs einbringt. Mike Muir am Mikro hat dagegen alle Vor- und Nachteile eines echten HC-Sängers: singen kann er gar nicht, aber das richtige Feeling kommt auf jeden Fall rüber.
