One of the original New York bands of the early 70s that had a huge impact on the development of punk. This still has a lot of 60/70’s rock influence, but it’s not so much blues or RnR, it’s more in an art rock vein. The result is a nervous/edgy kind of proto punk that is unique and quite fascinating even today. Where the Ramones were the forefathers of all the „generic“ punk bands, Television were the blueprint for many „art punk“ bands that came after - Mission of Burma, Embarrassment etc. A classic. [9]

Eine der frühen New-York-Bands, die Anfang der 70er wichtige Impulse zur Entwicklung des Punk gaben. Die Musik hat noch viel vom Geist des 60er- und 70er-Jahre-Rocks, allerdings weniger im Sinne von Blues oder RocknRoll, sondern eher mit Artrock-Einflüssen, die hier zu einem ziemlich einzigartigen, schneidend-nervösen Cocktail aus Rock, Punk und Avantgarde verwurstet werden. Wo also die Ramones als Vorgänger der „normalen“ Punkbands gelten können, sind Television die Vorväter der Art Punks wie Mission of Burma oder Embarrassment. Klassiker.
