Classic California fun punk, fast, frantic and witty. There have been tons of melodic punk bands, but none have had the insane touch of the Dickies. Their songs may sometimes seem childish and silly, but the songwriting and the melodies are actually pretty smart. This LP sounds as fresh today as in 1979, and I’m sure it still will 10 years from now. You just need this. (By the way, the Dickies were signed to the UK branch of A&M (who felt that they had missed the trend after letting the Sex Pistols go) and while they had a few minor hits in European charts they were never successful in the US, which is why most of their early records are UK-only or “UK first”). Kaspercore aus California… schnell, spritzig/witzig und mit tollen Melodien gesegnet. Was die Dickies von tausend anderen “Fun”-Bands unterscheidet, ist der irrwitzige touch, der aus guten Pop-Punk-Songs wahre Meisterwerke macht. Mit Klassikern wie Give it Back oder Paranoid ist dies sicher eine Platte, die die stürmische HC-Entwicklung unbeschadet überstanden hat und immer noch frisch wie vor 10 Jahren wirkt.
