Minnesota sound with heavy guitars. Twelve melodic guitar-fueled tracks, nothing revolutionary, but cool catchy stuff nonetheless, lots of hits. If you’re into the mid-80s Midwest sound (Hüskers/Replacements/TwinTone etc.) there’s no way around this band. I personally enjoy their other albums more because the production here is a bit flat, but still this is a good record. (TB) [7]

Kommen aus Minneapolis und klingen auch so: 12 mal melodi­scher, gitarrenlastiger Minnesotasound, also nichts revolutionär Neues; aber die Magnolias bringen allemal einen Haufen poppiger Ohrwürmer, und das ist doch schon was. Werden oft mit den Le­monheads verglichen, aber ich finde sie besser, geradliniger. (TB)
