Hmm… what did these guys do to get Jello Biafra to speak the opening lines to their major label debut? Anyway, this has all the corporate shite factor you’d expect, but at the same time, it’s still melodic and powerful hardcore punk if you can forgive them the radio-friendly production and a few metal/rock leads here and there. Their style is becoming formulaic and predictable, though (it was never too innovative to begin with), so although they continue to be successful, this starts their slow drift into musical irrelevance. I’ll skip their other major label releases; Americana, Conspiracy of One and Splinter are just variations of the same theme, except for a few excursions into rock, ska and emo. [7]

Die erste Industrieplatte der einstigen Epitaph-Stars; viel hat sich nicht geändert, nur dass die Produktion noch ein Stück teurer/besser geworden ist und ein paar Rock- und Metal-Einflüsse dazugekommen sind. Ansonsten wieder ordentlicher melodischer Hardcore, der allerdings immer vorhersehbarer und klischeehafter wird. Wie sie Jello Biafra dazu bekommen haben, die einleitenden Worte zu diesem Album zu sprechen, wird wohl für immer ein Rätsel bleiben. Die folgenden LPs werde ich hier nicht mehr besprechen, sie sind eigentlich nur Variationen des gleichen Themas, abgesehen von gelegentlichen Ausflügen in Rock, Ska und Emo.
