Pffrt, I've had it with the comps that have zillions of bands that play completely different styles of music. It's just not working for me. Take this one: 34 bay area bands, ranging from melodic hardcore and goofy pop punk to gloomier stuff, grinding Melvins-type sludge, Riot Grrl stuff etc etc. There's good, even great music here, and there's quite a few of the classic Lookout bands, but then there's all the crap you have to wade through to get to the 3 or 4 songs you actually like. An interesting document of that scene in the late 80s, nonetheless. [6]

Ich finde diese Sampler mit haufenweise Bands, die alle andere Musik spielen, extrem ermüdend. Auch hier gibt es eigentlich alles, von melodischem Hardcore und Poppunk bis zu düstereren Sachen, Riot Grrl-Stoff und Melvins-artigem Sludge. Natürlich gibt es gute und sogar tolle Songs, aber man muss sich erst durch 20 Songs quälen, bevor man wieder etwas hört, das einem wirklich gefällt. Als Dokument hat diese Platte ihre Berechtigung, ansonsten keine Empfehlung wert.
