They Don't Get Paid, They Don't Get Laid, But Boy Do They Work Hard! - comp. LP

  • maximum rocknroll. / 14 tracks / 1989
  • + info fanzine.
  • After two Bay Area-focused and a worldwide MRR comp the fanzine issued this DIY-themed US compilation with 14 bands. Most of the music is of the rough, fast and simple variety, occasionally with some metal, grind or fun punk influences. No complete letdowns, but also no real hits; most of it mirrors the scene’s identity crisis of that time, and ironically it’s the Screeching Weasel song (which was recorded as kind of a parody of the album’s hard-and-fast concept) that stands out most. [6]
  • Tracks: The Detonators - denied / Amenity - follow / Christ on a Crutch - nation of sheep / Nausea - clutches / Apocalypse - techno-doom / Conspiracy of Equals - is it right / Screeching Weasel - this bud's for me / Jawbox - bullet park / Dissent - superman / Downfall - long way to go / Dead Silence - hope / Cringer - pay to play / Bazooka Joe - phoenix / Libido Boyz - mr. greenthumb
