Second Phoenix compilation from the makers of Amuck. With Mighty Sphincter (weird death rock punk like on their other records), Conflict (the US band, good punk/hardcore, a lot better than their 12”), Soylent Greene (’81 recordings, great early HC, sounds a lot like the first JFA 7”), Zany Guys (not as good as their EP, generic HC), Sun City Girls (experimental punk with a Nomeansno edge, but not as accessible. Not bad, though.), JFA (live versions of older songs, sound quality isn’t too great). Good & diverse compilation. [7]  

Nach Amuck der zweite Phoenix-Sampler auf Placebo. Die üblichen Bands des Labels sind vertreten: Mighty Sphincter (abgefahrener Death/Goth/Rock/ Punk), Conflict (um einiges besser als ihre 12”, kraftvoller Punk/HC mit West-Coast-Flair), Soylent Greene (Aufnahmen von ’81, typischer früher, krachiger HC, der sehr an die erste JFA-7” erinnert), Zany Guys (eher durchschnittlicher HC, längst nicht so gut wie auf ihrer EP), Sun City Girls (etwas anstrengender Experimental-Punk, erinnert an Nomeansno), und natürlich JFA (dumpfer, etwas knödeliger HC. Die Stücke kennt man schon, daher eher unwichtig). Keine Überraschungen, aber ein guter & abwechslungsreicher Sampler.
